A TAPESTRY OF FRIENDSHIP: Conway and Coggan Revisit Carole King and James Taylor

Australian music veterans Deborah Conway and Darren Coggan are embarking on a national concert tour, You've Got a Friend,  celebrating the enduring musical legacy of Carole King and James Taylor. This one-night-only event, kicking off in Sydney on July 19th before traveling to Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, and Melbourne, promises a captivating evening of musical exploration and storytelling.

The concert features a stellar line-up of Australian musicians alongside Conway and Coggan, revisiting some of King and Taylor's most iconic hits. Audiences can expect to hear timeless classics from King's groundbreaking album Tapestry, including unforgettable tracks like You've Got a Friend and the entire album itself.  The setlist will also delve into Taylor's rich discography, featuring songs like the introspective ballad Fire and Rain, the soulful How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You), the evocative Carolina in My Mind, and the uplifting anthem Shower the People.

Beyond the music, the concert promises a deeper dive into the remarkable friendship and artistic influence King and Taylor shared. Conway and Coggan will weave personal anecdotes and insights throughout the performance, highlighting the decades-long impact these two music giants have had on each other's careers.

The centerpiece of the evening is likely to be the iconic You've Got a Friend, a song that perfectly encapsulates the enduring bond between King and Taylor.  This Grammy-winning collaboration, released in 1971, remains James Taylor's only number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

For Conway, the music of Carole King holds a special significance. "The songs are hard-wired into my soul," she shared.  Recalling her first encounter with Tapestry, she describes the profound impact the album had on her: "I remember buying it in 1971, every word, every melody etched in my mind. Even after 53 years, it continues to resonate with effortless grace."

Darren Coggan, immersed in James Taylor's music since childhood, expresses deep admiration for the singer-songwriter: "Taylor's voice is comforting, familiar, and warm. But he's so much more than that. He's a master storyteller whose songs take you on a personal journey. I can't wait to share this experience with our audiences."
