PANTO RETURNS TO THE STATE - IN 3D!

Pantomimes are great fun, and tradition states that some of our most loved performers take to the stage to show off their melodrama and (sometimes questionable) ability to hold a tune.

British born producer/director Bonnie Lythgoe brings Jack and the Beanstalk to Sydney’s State Theatre in July, and along with her impeccable choreography credentials, Bonnie adds a technological corner to the staging, with the help of 3D projection.

Producer/director Bonnie Lythgoe
Over the years, Australian audiences have warmed to pantomimes, much of which is due to Bonnie’s directorial vision, and her insistence on dazzling costumes, stunning sets, magic, very special effects, contextual comedy and soaring musical numbers. The pedigree is obvious in her work.

Jack and the Beanstalk is her sixth and ‘’biggest” Australian panto and includes a cast where their comic timing should add considerably to the show.

LUCY DURACK is well established as one of Australia’s leading performers of stage and screen, having played Glinda in the Australian production of Wicked, and Elle Woods in the Australian production of Legally Blonde: The Musical. She is also remembered as Tugger in the television drama Doctor Doctor in 2016 and as Roxy Karibas in Sisters in 2017, and continues to be in demand.

Joining Lucy in the panto is comic and TV funny guy PETER ROWSTHORN perhaps best known as long- suffering husband Brett Craig on Kath & Kim”. Peter plays ‘King Crumble’. Recently appearing on Dancing with The Stars, JAMES REES aka Jimmy Giggle from the hit ABC Kids’ show, Giggle and Hoot, is returning for his third Bonnie Lythgoe production and will play ‘Silly Billy’. There’s no doubting Jimmy’s range of talent, and it’s a joy to see him perform outside of the confines of kids' TV, albeit in another ‘family’ show.

Larger than life entertainment reporter RICHARD REID, who spent time in the jungle with Channel Ten’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, joins the cast as ‘Bumble the Lord Chancellor’. Also in the cast is musical and theatre performer/director LUKE JOSLIN (who was hysterical in Peter Pan Goes Wrong). Hi-5 favourite LACHLAN DEARING rounds out the cast as ‘Jack’ with ANASTASIA FENERI as 'Jill'.

Be prepared to CHEER, BOO and HISS.
